The last weekend of July saw the GDL team head off to Ragley Hall in Warwickshire. The Game Fair (formerly the CLA Game Fair) was held at this magnificent stately home near Stratford upon Avon on a weekend where the weather was largely kind to both exhibitors and visitors.
The Omega SC-3 compressor was there, of course, and while it’s not the type of product customers walk off the stand with, a number of orders have followed since the weekend there.
GDL launched two new product lines – Shilba scopes and binoculars and Trento knives – both of which generated much interest and good sales.
GDL found itself next door to the ATEO airgun training ranges, so we were able to help fill their bottles when they ran empty!
Also in the GDL tent was a traditional Bell Target range with three targets - one lit by candles!
The airguns used here were magificent, fully working Lincoln Jeffries Patents dating from around 1905.
The Game Fair included the usual clutch of unusual si...
A new consignment of Diablo Inline Air Filters has just arrived from the USA. These optional filters dry the compressed air even more than it is already when it exits the compressor. They have the highest level of desiccant in them.
The Diablos are usually red (to fit their devilish name!) but we asked for this latest consignment to be in black. We wondered if this would complement the carbon fibre look of the SC-3 compressor.
On the gloriously sunny weekend of May 7/8th, we travelled North
to the beautiful town of Harrogate in Yorkshire, England for the new
Northern Shooting Show. Hundreds and hundreds of visitors attended
the game fair over the 2 days, and our stand was constantly busy
with interest in the SuperCharger and its accessories.
One visitor insisted he buy the demo compressor there and then. But we needed it to show to other visitors. "Okay, I'll wait. I'll be back tomorrow when the show closes." And so he did come back. Despite the wait, he was delighted to go home with his very own SC-3.
We had brought along a camo version of the SC-3 at the show and it was a real head turner, stopping some people in their tracks. The odd visitor even appeared to fall head over heels with in love with it! One guy said it would fit in well with his camo settee, which we thought was a little unusual for the UK, but then things became even stranger when someone else said...
Just thought we'd take a moment to thank our customers for their kind comments about us, and our service. We strive as hard as we can to 'go the extra mile' and solve customers' compressor needs so it's wonderful when they respond with messages such as these:
UK: Compressor arrived yesterday, Just wanted to say thank you for the excellent customer service and what a great well thought out product the compressor and its spares are.
Midlands UK: My compressor arrived safely today. What a fantastic bit of kit, filled 3 guns in a fraction of the time it takes me just to get to the dive shop. Many thanks for your first class customer service.
Scotland: Arrived this morning, thank you for a terrific service.
Abu Dhabi UAE: Thank you for your kind treatment and helpful information.
UK: You have been most helpful ... thanks again for the support. It is very refreshing that you come back to me quickly as well.
S.E. UK: Thanks for this - will get this paid later...
We have just had another consultation with our regional representative from UKTI – the UK Government’s export advice service. It’s part of ongoing help they provide to companies like GDL who are looking to make an impact in world markets.
They’re helping us design a better strategy for introducing the Omega Compressor to new markets around the world, especially to the Middle East.
We now have some new ideas about how to approach these markets better and we'll be looking to build on these in the near future.
However, no one, not even Government officials, visits GDL without being offered their pick of a plate of biscuits and homemade flapjack.
Not for the first time, Gilbert Distribution was visiting IWA in Germany. This major outdoor sports exhibition is Nurenberg is an weekend event (4th-7th March) and we were there to meet the European distributers of the Omega Compressor; our American partners; and to do some deals for a new project coming soon.
IWA is a huge event, spread over 8 massive exhibition halls. To give you an idea, last year there were 1,379 exhibitors and 41,748 visitors from 121 countries across the world. So, it’s a very busy place. New products are showcased, introductions made, deals done & new and old friends do business and then relax after a hard day on the somewhat unforgiving exhibition floors!
Our German distributer who looks after most of Europe for us is Gehmann GmbH. Here is their chief engineer in action, with the Omega SC3 air compressor just behind him.
Meanwhile, here is GDL's Ross Marshall with the owner of Airguns of...
We've had a number of enquiries recently from the scuba community about the suitability of the Omega SC3 for filling dive bottles with breathing air, as opposed to compressed air used by airgunners.
We've been in touch with the designer and this is the latest:
"The SC3 compressor is not currently suitable to produce breathing air for divers, although we are re-designing it to do just that. A new model will be on the market very soon.
Thanks to there being no oil in the air which the compressor produces and, due to the high level of filtration already used in the OMEGA compressor, the SC3 can be used in conjunction with a certificated diver's air filtration attachment. Just check that the connections between the air hose on the compressor and the filter etc. are compatible."
We'll let you know when we have one suitable for diving.
